I am currently pursuing my PhD at the University of Ottawa.  The principal topic of my PhD research are Judeo-Spanish folktales and translation.  In researching this I am examining it from a few angles.  The first is how modern Sephardic tales differ from those of the Muslims and Christians from medieval Spain.  Secondly, I am identifying the difficulties in translating oral literature into a new language (in this case English).  Thirdly, I am exploring how uniquely Jewish concepts may be "lost in translation" when a text is prepared for a different cultural community.
