Remy Attig holds a PhD in Spanish from the University of Ottawa. He is interested in borderland, hybrid, and transnational identities as they are written by those who live this reality and how they are understood by others. This interest leads him to focus on literature in Spanglish, Judeo-Spanish and Portuñol and the translation of this work. His work is equal parts descriptive, theoretical, and creative and draws from Sociolinguistics, Translation Studies, Literary Studies, Postcolonial and Borderlands Theories, "Ethnic" Studies, and translation in practice.

He is currently working on a book first academic monograph entitled "Identity on the Borders of Spanish: How Spanglish, Judeo-Spanish and Portuñol Literature Is Writing Transnational Communities."
